Emotive scenes of late of our a country united in grief. Her Majesty the Queen was a figure head of strength and her loss will be felt across the country and world. Grief is a familiar emotion within the AcuPips team and something our clients often have to deal with.
NADA protocol
NADA protocol is often used in the wake of community trauma/disasters. It is a non verbal, no drugs and no barriers approach using ear acupuncture for recovery. Responders were able to support during 9/11 for example as well as at other significant events.
A NADA responder to the 2015 Nepal earthquake said “Most of the 112 children, ranging from infants to about age 14, treated with beads this day would have likely gone untreated if the beads were not an option.â€
Ear pressure points
Ear points have been used for supporting health for many years. Since the late 1990s, ear acupoint stimulation has become a common intervention as part of the relief services provided. Those treated mentioned a ‘warm sensation’ in the body, a ‘sense of calm’ and even the ability to sleep which is significant for mental and physical wellbeing in these situations.
Zoë Young, founder of AcuPips, trained in the NADA protocol and realised the impact it could have for not only anxiety and grief but also general mental health recovery. This knowledge has gone into her day to day work.
“There were some powerful stories about how the ears were being used in the treatment of those affected by 9/11 and how acupuncture and ear seeding was one of the most effective treatments. It changed the way I looked at things.†said Zoë.
AcuPips home treatment kits were the result of this work. Meaning people could ‘self treat’ at home when a situation arose.
