Our Expert-Led 'How To' Guides

AcuPressure Guides

Our AcuGuides are written by AcuPips founder and licensed acupuncturist Zoë Young. She answers your FAQ's below.

Acupressure is a healing technique rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) that involves applying gentle but firm pressure to specific points on the body—called acupoints—to stimulate the body’s natural healing abilities and restore energetic balance.

The body is believed to have meridians, or energy pathways, through which qi (life force) flows.

When qi is blocked or imbalanced, it can lead to physical or emotional discomfort.

By pressing on acupoints—often with fingers, thumbs, or specialized tools—practitioners aim to release blockages, improve circulation, and trigger the body’s self-healing response.

  • Relief from headaches, nausea, anxiety, and muscle tension
  • Improved sleep and digestion
  • Enhanced emotional well-being and relaxation
