Back to school - Anxiety in children

By Zephi
For some parents, time for children to go back to school comes as a relief. It has been a long hot summer this year. However, for some children the change of routine and pressures that come with school may create issues of anxiety or insomnia. How is your child approaching the start of the new term?

A child experiencing anxiety is hard on both the child and parent but ear seeding may be a solution you hadn’t considered. Ear seeding is a great option for children as there are no needles and they can wear them for a few days at a time so it is a non-invasive process.  (Any parent who has gone through the process of eye drops every two hours will know what an overall trauma that comes with!)

Some adults may be sceptical about ear seeding but it is remarkable the open minds that children generally come with. Often children focus on how pretty and fun they are and not their usage as such but still get the same benefits.

Have you tried....

As a back to school protocol, you may like to try
  1. Children thrive on routine so start to get onto school times now. Shift those late nights and lie ins now so it is less abrupt at the start of term.
  2. Look at our Introductory kits for kids sleep or stress/anxiety. The kits are a great addition to your medicine cabinet to help with emotional and behavioural support.
  3. Talk about the positives of back to school but also let your children express freely their concerns.
  4. Work together to get uniform and supplies sorted. Getting a child involved in the process may ease some of the anxieties.
  5. A playdate with a child from school a few days before may help a child to gain confidence in returning to school to a familiar face.
